Newsletter June 2008

7th June 2008

During a phenomenal year of success and achievement, Little Lever Sports Club has decided to go ahead with a number of major enhancements at our Mytham Road ground.

After careful consideration and much investigation we have taken advice from an experienced company regarding the best way to solve our drainage problems over the 2 pitches.

The proposal is to have both pitches virti-drained and sanded on a regular basis, starting with the first application this summer!

Over time this will help reduce the drainage problems we’ve experienced over the last few years with the exceptionally wet weather.  The main advantage for all teams when playing at home will be a more consistent number of games, which aren’t postponed, and an overall better standard of playing turf.

Additionally the 1st and 2nd team pitch is to be fenced off using metal poles to make this a permanent fixture, together with 2 dugouts for the home and away sides to be placed on either side of the pitch.

This fence will also be used to advertise and gain sponsorship from local businesses and we’ve already secured over 12 companies that would like to place advertisements. This support will be a valuble income stream to continue our development of Mytham Road and our club.

Finally, we also have plans to rebuild the Clubhouse and bring it up to date with the demands from today’s football.

Unfortunately all the above enhancements come at a cost that far exceeds what we can currently raise. So it was proposed and voted for at the AGM that took place on Thursday 15th May 2008 that we introduce an annual £15.00 signing on fee starting from the beginning of the 2008/09 season for all players of the club. This brings it into line with the junior members of our club that have had a £15 signing on fee for some years now.

Every player must pay the fee in full before a ball is kicked next season!

Please note the dates below for coming to Hardy Hall to pay your £15.00

Saturday 28th June between 5-6pm
Wednesday 16th July 8-10-pm
Saturday 26th July between 5-6pm

The managers and committee would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the players, helpers, and parents, both old and new, which allow this club to live and function..... Long may it continue.
